The first techno record played entirely by robots has been made: WATCH

The first techno record played entirely by robots has been made by award-winning engineer and media artist Moritz Simon Geist, AKA Sonic Robots. 

In a fittingly logical fashion, the full album is entitled 'Robotic Electronic Music', and has been produced by Andi Thoma of decade-spanning electronic outfit Mouse On Mars. It's slated for release on 16th November, with a preceding EP dropping in October. 

Geist, who is German, may be familiar to some thanks to his performances during production showcase events like Mutek, CTM and Moogfest, and won the Visual Music and Initiative Music awards in 2017 and 2017-18 respectively. 

You can take a look at the groundbreaking work below, which involves percussive motors, 3D-printed mechanical kalimbas and numerous other tech that has been salvaged and re-appropriated. Several years in the making, while robots are nothing new in dance music (see the new book charting Daft Punk's legacy and the Prague club which has replaced DJs with a machine) to our knowledge this is a world first.
