The search for the world's best scratch turntablist will begin this week in the UK, with the first heats of the annual DMC World DJ Championship taking place across the country.

The first heat takes place in Liverpool on 12th May at Magnet.

Newcastle will host a DMC 2006 heat the following night at The Other Rooms, whilst Leeds' The Wardrobe will see aspiring scratch DJs battle it out on 14th May.

The Fez club in Cambridge will host a DMC DJ battle heat on 18th May, before the championship moves southwards to London's Fabric on 19th May.

After that, Nottingham, Brighton, Bournemouth, Bristol, Reading, and Birmingham will host heats, before the UK final takes place at Hammersmith Palais on 6 July.
