DJ MAG GOES TO CARNIVAL!

Darren Emerson and Smokin' Jo on the bill for Notting Hill bash

DJ Mag has teamed up with West London promoters West Side Story for a fun-filled Carnival bash next month (August bank holiday weekend). Former Underworld man Darren Emerson headlines the event on Monday 25th August, and there's a top line-up in store to make this one of the party highlights at the Notting Hill extravaganza.

West London's Notting Hill Carnival is alive with music — soca, reggae, dancehall, grime, calypso, garage, drum & bass. House music has been well served for many years by Norman Jay's Good Times soundsystem and Sancho Panza, but this year those two stalwarts are absent from Carnival — meaning that this 'Carnival Heroes' party will be busier than ever.

The West Side Story team have been staging Carnival parties at The Masons on Harrow Road — along the Carnival route — for over a decade, previously holding them in association with the likes of Snowbombing. So they know what they're doing. This event will very quickly sell out.

The top line-up is headed up by Darren Emerson, who has been mocked up as Superman for the 'Carnival Heroes' flyer (see below). The legendary Smokin' Jo is Wonder Woman, and D.Ramirez... well, we're not quite sure who he — or some of the others — are meant to be on the flyer, but you can be sure that he'll also be rocking the party with his sexy electrotech tunes.

House legend Terry Farley, Batty Bass supremo Hannah Holland, Horse Meat Disco's Severino and disco queen Sophie Lloyd are also on the bill, as are residents and hosts Guy Williams and Barry Ashworth from the Dub Pistols.

The Ghetto Funk Allstars host the upstairs room with their superfly blend of funk, soul and old skool electro, and other DJs also digging out costumes from their dressing up box — or more likely raiding costume-hire shops — include the Men Who Fell To Earth, Ollie Munts, Miss G, and DJ Mag's Adam Saville and Carl Loben.

Early bird tickets for this unmissable Carnival bash are priced at just £10, plus £1 booking fee, available here

The sister party also takes place on Sunday 24th August at the same venue. Tickets here

Two-day tickets are available for £20.
