A DIFFERENT WORLD IN THE LUNGS OF SOUTH AMERICA

A tiny seed was scattered back in 2010 in the Colombian capital, which has grown into a musical spectacle. This year, in the 6^th edition of a three-day event that has hosted singularities of the electronic scene such as Tiësto, Axwell, Zedd and Steve Aoki, the stakes raised radically in order to please an increasingly demanding and diverse public. Without further ado, let us me present one of Latin-America’s most acclaimed festivals: Estéreo Picnic.

A unique experience based on the idea of a real picnic enlivened with the best live music, and proud to consider itself a different world. This festival successfully hosted diverse music genres, where electronic artists had, hands down, a sweet spot in the audiences’ heart. Seth Troxler and Deep Dish were part of the electronic quota clearly led by Major Lazer, Skrillex and the big bet, Calvin Harris.

To the surprise of many, the Latin vibe of Major Lazer and the mega hits of Calvin Harris were not even close to reaching the level of the musical detonation brought by LA’s prodigal son Skrillex. Permeated by punk, rap, trap, dubstep and many other styles, his performance dominated the crowd

It was right to dedicate a few and certainly brief words for an artist that cares a lot about his spectators, to the point of submerging himself in the local folklore by ending his set with something that could not be more Colombian than a salsa version of the all-time cumbia song La Pollera Colorá. Not to mention that his extraterrestrial mixes from The Lion King’s Circle of Life, EDM hits like Animals and his very own single Bangarang.

The vibe of this year’s Estéreo Picnic wouldn’t have been the same if we hadn’t had the privilege of astonishing ourselves with Skrillex first appearance ever in Colombia. “Tienes mi corazón” were some of the last words dedicated by him to the crowd. This Martian performer can be sure he holds our hearts too.
