ABBA to release new music for the first time in 35 years

Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!

ABBA, yes, ABBA are set to release their first new music in 35 years, a new statement has confirmed.

The legendary Swedish disco pop group revealed in 2016 that there was to be a “virtual and digital” live experience happening in future. As plans for this “Abbatar” tour came together over the past few months though, the group were inspired to get back into the studio to record music together for the first time in almost four decades.

In a post made on the iconic act’s Instagram, they said "We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did. And it was like time had stood still and that we had only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience!"

The result of their studio outing, according to the statement, is two brand new songs, one of which goes by the name of ‘I Still Have Faith In You’. According to the announcement, the tracks will be performed by the band’s “digital selves” in a TV special produced by NBC and BBC. They have described their time in the studio as “an extremely joyful experience”.

The statement concluded: “We may have come of age, but the song is new. And it feels good.”

Björn Ulvaeus from the band revealed further details of the digital tour last week, saying that their virtual avatars would be touring from next year and that the technology digitally scanned group and “de-aged” them to look lik they did during their heyday.

There now, some magical news for your weekend! Check out their Instagram statement below.
